Photographic diary (July)
The sea, Portraits, and more work in the Atelier.
This month, I took portraits of Juf Nynke, someone I wanted to portray for so long. I am excited to share the results with you! She has the most beautiful hands I have yet to photograph.
This month, I also went out to the sea multiple times to photograph, in my opinion, one of the hardest and ever-changing subjects, A big body of water. I admire photographers like Hiroshi Sugimoto who has spent four decades photographing the sea. I do understand and see the beauty in this. I can’t wait for the new book of Stephan Vanfleteren, “Transcripts of the sea“ to see his take on this subject.
For the longest time, I have been inspired by the still lifes of Jopie Huisman, A Friesian painter. The still life of my boots is the result of this inspiration.
