Photographic diary (August)
A moving Atelier, Portraits, and some B-side images.
This month, the atelier was on the road. Last year, I hand-dyed and sewed a backdrop with the intention of being able to have a consistent backdrop everywhere I go. This month, that backdrop was put to the test. As I went to photograph a horse, and had a portrait assignment in Drenthe.
The assignment was to photograph a painter in her studio. I find the similarity between a painter and a photographer intriguing. Both work on visual arts that take place in a 2D sense. Painting had been done for thousands of years and photograhpy for almost 200. No wonder photograhpy still has a hard time being considered an art form. As a photographer, I get to choose out as many frames as I have shot that day, a painter does not have this luxury, they have to choose one image and stay with it for a longer period of time.
Interesting stuff.
In the future, I would love to write an essay on this topic.
If been working on a new series behind the scenes and photographed various random images this month.
I hope you enjoy
