Sea and landscapes, Crossing the sea.

The month started with taking portraits of Arthur in my Daylight Atelier. This month, most of my work was created on Terschelling; my time was spent on the island and crossing the sea to the mainland for love. On Terschelling, I mostly created land and seascapes. Next to these landscapes, I worked on my project.

Last month, I compared my landscape work with that of a charcoal drawing study of a painter. Whose charcoal drawings have been tossed and smudged in his back, creating an abstract reality. Perhaps printing one of the landscapes, tossing it in my bag, and letting the chaos of travelling do its job.

I already played with this idea. I carry a printed photograph with me in my back pocket. folded, it takes on the creases and collects dust in the back pocket of my pants. I find this interesting, carrying a once moment in time in the pocket of my pants. The first photo of this month’s Atelier Diary is one of those photograhps aged by time.

Like every month, I cant forget to write a love letter to the light.

This month, the light took up more time during the play. I can now wake up with the sun rising, the days are getting longer, and there are more days with direct sunlight casting long shadows. These days carry a small hint or spring in the air. Reminding me spring is just around the corner, days filled with direct sunlight and interesting shadows. The light will slowly shift in my atelier, and soon there will be direct light cast on the wall.
